FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do you accept insurance?

Yes! I accept most major insurance coverage, and I’m in network with BCBS, United Healthcare/Optum, Aetna, and Cigna. I will even bill them for you! Before we meet, I will have my billing company (Headway) connect with you, gather your insurance information, and tell us what your financial obligation will be. Once we agree to the terms, we will settle upon a date /time for our first session, Headway will bill your insurance and collect your part as well. It’s that easy!

WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS?

I work most weekdays from 10-5; however, I do offer late afternoon and evening hours on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. At this time, I do not see clients on weekends.

WHERE IS YOUR OFFICE LOCATED?

My office is located in downtown Matthews, North Carolina. My address is 119 South Trade Street, Suite 107. However, I can see clients virtually, anywhere in North or South Carolina.

DO YOU OFFER VIRTUAL SESSIONS?

Yes, of course! In an ideal world, I would love it if every client could get to my office. But research shows that meeting virtually works just as well! In my own experience, I’ve had more trouble using Telehealth with couples than with individual clients, but I’m learning to adapt my in- person techniques with couples on the screen; and it’s getting easier with each couple I treat virtually.

DO YOU OFFER FAITH-BASED COUNSELING

I have a strong Christian faith myself, and it has helped me when all else has failed. If that sounds like something you would say; then, by all means, let me know! However, no one ever said that counseling is only for Christians; we can discuss faith and even pray in sessions, but that is certainly not a prerequisite for mental health care. I welcome all fellow humans, regardless of world view, gender, race, sexual orientation, disability, culture, and religion. I am a very faith-filled individual, and it is very difficult to extract that from my being. However, please help me to understand you, not an arbitrary label that has been slapped on you. I don’t claim to have any magic key to life, but my hope is to help you find your key to your life so that you can reach your full potential.

HOW LONG ARE YOUR SESSIONS?

This varies. EAP sessions are typically 45 minutes because that is dictated by your insurance policy. Most other sessions will last about 60 minutes. I try to run on -schedule, but there are times when sessions runs over. Please be patient, know you’ll get your full session, and remember: someday it may be you who needs a bit more than their scheduled time.

HOW OFTEN WILL WE MEET?

I like to start with once a week for the first 3-4 sessions, or at least until we know and trust one another. Then we can space your sessions out according to your needs. As you heal, and as you meet your treatment goals, you’ll need me less and less.

HOW DO I CONTACT YOU?

You may contact me by phone or email; but if it is to cancel, reschedule, or change an appointment, please give me the courtesy of a text message. I have a strict cancellation policy, so please tell me of changes with at least a 24-hour lead time. Otherwise, you will be subject to a cancellation fee that is equivalent to what I would be paid for our appointment had you kept it.

CAN I USE MY HSA CARD WHAT ABOUT CREDIT CARDS

Yes, of course!

WHAT AGES DO YOU WORK WITH?

I work with teens and adults, starting at age 11 or older.
